How Our Scholarship Endowment Helps Future Gators

Ever wondered how our scholarship endowment actually works? Let’s break it down!

Our scholarship fund is all about helping out UF students from New England. We’re looking to support those who excel academically and show signs of becoming future alumni who give back. Whether it’s volunteering, supporting the club, or going into fields like nursing or public service, we aim to help passionate Gator students with big plans to make a difference.

So, How Does This Work?

We set up the endowment back in 2017, and it’s invested by UF’s investment team, allowing it to grow over time. Right now, we’ve got a little more than $30,000 in the fund. Every year, around 4% of the proceeds are available to award to students. In addition, we may choose to award funds directly from the club’s operations fund.

Our board goes through applications from New England Gators, scores them based on our own rubric, and works with UFAA staff to get scholarships paid out to our chosen recipients.

Growing the Endowment Fund

Building up the endowment is a team effort!

Besides direct donations, everything raised on Gator Nation Giving Day in February goes right into the endowment.

Proceeds from our events (merch sales, the silent auction, and watch party drawings) are either directed to the endowment or awarded directly to scholarship winners.

As a result, if you’re supporting the club, you’re already helping make a difference!

Want to Help Us Go Further?

If this sounds like something you’d want to get involved with, there are some great ways to make an impact!

Join our board if you’d like to play a hands-on role in reviewing scholarship applications and helping guide our fundraising efforts. We’re always looking for enthusiastic, community-minded Gators to bring fresh energy to the team. Feel free to contact us to learn more!

Or, if you’re considering making a large donation (more than $1,000), we’d love to work with you! Donors at this level can choose how they’d like their contribution to be awarded—whether it’s by supporting a specific field, boosting our endowment, or creating special one-time awards for New England students.

And, of course, any size donation to our endowment directly helps future Gators. Visit our Donate page for more details.

Thanks for being part of our Gator community and helping us make a real impact for New England Gators!

Go Gators!
